Strassen59-year-old man dies following accident on A6 motorway

A fatal early-morning crash on the A6 near Strassen, in which a driver died after hitting the central barrier, has led to the motorway being closed towards Luxembourg City and has caused major traffic disruption.

A serious accident occurred early on Tuesday morning on the A6 motorway heading towards Luxembourg City.

A driver crashed into the left-hand concrete barrier with his car. Despite emergency services arriving quickly at the scene, the 59-year-old driver died from his injuries. He was a Belgian national.

The incident took place near Strassen at around 4.30am. The motorway remains closed in that area until further notice. As a result, significant traffic disruption is being reported.

By 6.30am, queues of around 5 kilometres had already formed, growing to around 9 kilometres shortly after 7am. Queues of 11 kilometres have now been reported.
