Changes will made to trains on routes through the Kayl valley, in northern Luxembourg, and the line to Libramont.
Increased services in Kayl valley
Currently seven trains travel between Noertzange and Rumelange per day. From 14 December, however, this will increase massively. In peak times, between 6–8am and 4–7pm, there will be two trains an hour. Off-peak services will travel once per hour.
The increase in trains will ensure better connections with other trains and bus services in southern Luxembourg.
Northern Luxembourg: more trains on weekends and public holidays
There will be four trains per hour between Luxembourg City and Ettelbruck, and two an hour between the capital and Troisvierges at weekends and on public holidays. This will be the case all year round. CFL said the reason for the increase in services was the fact that the number of passengers using the northern line at weekends had more than doubled between 2019 and 2024.
No more changes between Luxembourg City and Libramont
From 14 December, selected CFL trains from Luxembourg City will not stop at Arlon, but will continue on to Libramont, reducing the need for passengers to change services. This should also reduce travel times.
