Major traffic delays have been reported on the A1 Wednesday evening following two separate incidents.

Traffic on the A1 motorway has been disrupted on Wednesday evening due to two separate, simultaneous incidents: a reckless U-turn and a multi-vehicle collision.

Shortly after 5pm, a driver performed an illegal U-turn on the A1 towards Croix de Gasperich, just after the Howald tunnel. This forced the closure of the right-hand lane, causing significant delays.

At approximately the same time, a separate pile-up involving three cars occurred further along the motorway on the A1 towards Trier, after the Munsbach viaduct. Police confirmed one vehicle ended up stationary on the hard shoulder.

Authorities have advised caution in both areas as traffic jams continue to form.
