Luxembourg City's Winterlights festivities begin on 21 November and run until 4 January, bringing a full programme of markets and seasonal attractions to the capital.

Four main markets will once again be spread across the City: on Place d'Armes, near the Gëlle Fra, on the Kinnekswiss, and on Place de Paris. Full details, including opening hours, are available on the City of Luxembourg's website.

For younger visitors, a dedicated children's Christmas market called 'Winterkids' will take place at Knuedler.

During the school holidays, which begin on 20 December, the 'Winterkids Village' will also open, offering a range of workshops and activities for children and parents.

A new feature this year is the 'Winter Forest' at Bambësch. Organised by CAPEL, it will host a series of workshops from 4 to 14 December for children aged 3 to 12.

Other highlights include the 'International Circus Festival' and the 'Luxembourg Advent Circus', held at the Glacis on 29–30 November and 4–5 December respectively.

Meanwhile, Santa Claus will make his way through the city on 30 November.

Recently, the BBC named Luxembourg City's Winterlights as 'Europe's overlooked – and standout – Christmas city', highlighing the City's beautiful landscape, stunning lights, and local cuisine.

They also visited Mainz, Prague, Budapest, Nuremberg, Bratislava, and London. While each had its highlights, the overall impression was the same: there were simply too many people, making the markets feel overcrowded.
