Starting Wednesday, a cloud laden with dust from the Sahara will pass over Luxembourg, and more broadly the Greater Region.

According to La Chaîne Météo, a southerly wind carrying sand from the Sahara swept across France from Wednesday afternoon and reached Luxembourg during the night between Wednesday and Thursday. The dust is expected to linger over the region until at least Friday evening.

Forecasts indicate that the sand "will give the sky a hazy, ochre hue until Saturday", the weather channel adds – a sight that should please photographers.

If you own a car, however, caution is advised: should a layer of sand settle on your vehicle, avoid brushing it off immediately, as the sand grains can scratch the paintwork. You can find our full cleaning recommendations here.
