Daniel Miltgen, who led Luxembourg's Housing Fund from 1992 to 2015, passed away on Monday at the age of 68.

An engineer and urban planner by training, he also served as Senior Adviser, at the Ministry of Housing and Spatial Planning.

In 2015, he was dismissed by then Minister of Housing Maggy Nagel of the Democratic Party (DP) following disagreements between the two. Miltgen was accused of poor management, allegations he always rejected, pointing to an official report which, he said, disproved them.

Furthermore, a judicial inquiry linked to a real estate project was later dropped due to lack of evidence.

In recent years, Miltgen was a regular contributor of opinion letters to rtl.lu and Tageblatt, where he often criticised Luxembourg's housing policies, particularly those of the DP and the City of Luxembourg. He argued that their approach hindered the development of social housing while favouring private developers close to the party.

After leaving the Housing Fund, Miltgen taught at the Lycée Josy Barthel in Mamer until his retirement.

In 2023, he briefly stood as a Fokus candidate in the municipal elections but resigned shortly afterwards, objecting to the party's decision to recruit Monica Semedo.

Miltgen is survived by his three daughters. RTL extends its sincere condolences to his family.
