Two shoplifters were arrested in a Luxembourg City store on Friday for the second time in a single day, following an immediate return to the scene of their initial crime.

Two individuals were arrested for shoplifting on Grand-Rue on Friday, marking their second such offence at the same store within a matter of hours.

The incident began on Friday afternoon at around 4pm, when police were dispatched to a shopping centre on Grand-Rue following a report of shoplifting. Officers arrived promptly and apprehended the two suspects at the scene.

Upon investigation, it was revealed that the same individuals had been caught stealing from the identical shop just a few hours earlier. Due to the nature of this immediate reoffence, the public prosecutor's office ordered their formal arrest.

Following a mandatory medical check, the two were transferred to the Uerschterhaff Penitentiary Centre in Sanem. They appeared before an examining magistrate on Saturday morning.
