Influencer Dylan Thiry, originally from Luxembourg, faces trial in Paris on Monday over allegations that he misused around €250,000 in charity donations, French media report.
Luxembourg-born influencer Dylan Thiry is set to appear before a French court on Monday, facing allegations that he used charity donations for personal purchases, including two Mercedes cars, according to French media Le Figaro.
Thiry will stand trial in Paris on charges of "breach of trust". Between 2021 and 2022, he reportedly raised around €250,000 through online fundraising campaigns that claimed to support underprivileged children in Madagascar. French prosecutors now accuse him of misappropriating part of those funds for personal use.
If convicted, Thiry faces up to five years in prison and a €375,000 fine.
The 30-year-old first rose to fame in 2017 after appearing on the French reality TV show Koh-Lanta: Cambodia. Although he was eliminated in the first episode, his decision to enter the jungle wearing €500 Gucci loafers made headlines and kick-started his media career.
Thiry has since appeared in other French reality shows and built a major social media presence. He currently lives in Dubai and shares insights into his lavish lifestyle with his 2.3 million Instagram followers.
