Barely settled into his new role, Grand Duke Guillaume received Chamber President Claude Wiseler and PM Luc Frieden for courtesy meetings at the Palace, with plans for regular bi-monthly exchanges on current political matters.

In the morning, he received Chamber of Deputies President Claude Wiseler, followed later by PM Luc Frieden, for audiences at the Grand Ducal Palace. While these were largely courtesy visits, it is likely that current political matters were also discussed with the two heavyweights of the Christian Social People's Party (CSV).

Following his afternoon audience with the new Head of State, Frieden confirmed that one-to-one meetings at the Palace would take place every two weeks, and expressed his eagerness for these regular exchanges. Frieden and the Grand Duke have known each other for many years, having often represented Luxembourg abroad together during numerous economic missions in their respective roles, he said.

Earlier that morning, Claude Wiseler had also met the Grand Duke. Although he did not reveal the details of their conversation, the Chamber President emphasised how approachable and open Guillaume is. Such meetings will be arranged whenever the Grand Duke's schedule allows or when the situation requires direct discussions, Wiseler noted.

On Tuesday morning, the President of the Council of State, Marc Thewes, is also due to be received at the Palace.
