Commuters and residents should prepare for significant travel disruptions in Luxembourg City this Friday, as traffic restrictions are introduced for the change of throne festivities.

In preparation for the festivities surrounding the change of throne, Luxembourg City will implement traffic restrictions beginning Friday. These measures extend beyond the limitations already in place near the Grand Duchess Charlotte Bridge since 27 September.

Key changes include the ongoing closure of the Glacis car park, which has been inaccessible since 10pm on 25 September. Additionally, the Schuman roundabout car park will be closed from 1am on 3 October until 1am on 6 October, though it will remain accessible to season ticket holders.

Public transport users should also anticipate schedule adjustments. Modifications will affect bus routes 2, 3, 4, 6, 12, 16, 18, 19, 21, 30, and 31, as well as lines CN1, CN4, CN5, and CN7. The tram service will also experience alterations. For specific details, travellers are advised to consult the Luxembourg City council website or the mobility portal at www.mobiliteit.lu.

To facilitate travel, the City Night Bus service will operate overnight, with eight routes running through various neighbourhoods until 3.30am at 15 to 30-minute intervals.

In light of these changes, the Luxembourg City council generally recommends using Park + Ride facilities.
