Manon Kolber-Hoffmann has been approved as the new mayor of Steinsel, with the Luxembourg Socialist Workers' Party (LSAP) set to hold the mayor's office throughout the legislative period under its coalition with the Democratic Party (DP).

The LSAP politician is succeeding her party colleague Fernand Marchetti, who announced his resignation in June this year.

Manon Kolber-Hoffmann was approved by the municipal council with ten votes in favour and one abstention. She will now be proposed to the Grand Duke as the new mayor of Steinsel. According to a press release from the local LSAP section, the LSAP and the coalition partner DP will continue working together to implement the coalition agreement.

Fernand Marchetti, aged 76, was thanked for his tireless commitment as mayor.

In the 2023 local elections, Manon Kolber-Hoffmann narrowly missed out on a council seat, finishing sixth on the LSAP list. At the start of last year she stepped in to replace Monique Feltgen. Under the coalition agreement between the LSAP and DP, the LSAP will hold the mayor's office for the entire legislative period and, from next year, will also provide an alderman.
