On Wednesday morning, the cycling association ProVelo staged a protest on the Red Bridge in Luxembourg City against new measures introduced as part of the organisation of the throne accession celebrations.

Traffic on the bridge has been adjusted due to the ongoing set-up for the throne accession celebrations scheduled for 3 to 5 October. Cyclists are now required to dismount and a speed limit of 30 km/h has been introduced.

ProVelo argues that these measures are inadequate and even counterproductive.

This is a developing story with updates to follow.
