Police report a hit-and-run accident in Herbsberg on Tuesday morning, involving a drink driver that was caught shortly after his attempted escape.

The accident occurred on the N11 on Tuesday afternoon, when a car collided with another vehicle while overtaking. Although the driver briefly stopped after the incident, he fled the scene. Shortly thereafter, a police patrol found the fleeing car in Echternach and subjected the motorist to an alcohol test. The result came back positive, whereupon the driver lost his license.

Break-ins and a robbery

Police also received several burglary reports on Tuesday. In the afternoon, intruders broke into a single-family home on Duerfstrooss in Rippweiler, ransacking the rooms.

Another burglary took place later that evening at a single-family house on Millewee in Beckerich. The perpetrators entered through a window, searched the rooms, and stole jewelry.

That same evening, an armed robbery was reported in the parking lot of the Bim Diederich Sports Centre in Pétange. According to police, the perpetrator was carrying a knife and forced the victim to hand over their phone, wallet, house keys, and even their shoes. The attacker then fled. A police search was unsuccessful, and investigations have been launched.
