Moldovan communities from across Europe came together in Luxembourg for a celebration of their heritage.
On the evening of 13 September 2025, nearly 200 Moldovans from Luxembourg, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, and Portugal gathered at the Drescherhaus Cultural Centre in Dommeldange to celebrate Moldovan culture and traditions, as well as the Romanian language. The event featured a vibrant artistic programme that brought together generations and included the presence of the much-loved Moldovan poet Vasile Romanciuc.
Organised by the nonprofit Impact Moldova in Luxembourg, with financial support from the Government of the Republic of Moldova through the Diaspora Engagement Hub program, the evening was a joyful occasion for reunions, cultural exchange, and appreciation of shared heritage in the heart of Europe.
Highlights included traditional music and dance performances, children’s art workshops, and the inspiring presence of the Moldovan diaspora community coming together to celebrate their roots.
His Excellency Alain de Muyser, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the Republic of Moldova (non-resident), also attended the event. He expressed his admiration for the organisation of such events and voiced his support for the Republic of Moldova in its European journey. At the end of August 2025, His Excellency visited the Republic of Moldova on a working visit, accompanying a delegation from the Benelux countries.
His Excellency Viorel Cibotaru, the Moldovan Ambassador to Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Head of the Moldovan Mission to NATO, who was also present at the event, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to bring the Moldovan diaspora together in one place for such a special occasion and to promote the culture of the Republic of Moldova beyond its borders.
