Luxair flight LG655 to Ibiza was forced to turn around mid-air on Tuesday evening due to technical issues.

Passengers onboard said the aircraft crew members had told them there were problems with the plane's undercarriage. One of the wheels at the front was no longer turning, meaning it would be impossible to land in Ibiza as planned.

In a statement, Luxair confirmed the plane had turned around as a preventative measure and had landed safely back at Findel airport. Witnesses said the aircraft was towed off the runway once it touched down.

A replacement flight has been scheduled to depart Luxembourg on Wednesday morning.
