While Steinfort has lifted its health alert after clean water test results, health authorities remain unable to identify the source of the Legionnaires' disease cluster that has infected eight people in the region.
The municipality of Steinfort lifted its health alert on Monday after water tests came back negative, yet authorities continue investigating the source of a recent Legionnaires' disease cluster in the region.
The outbreak was first identified two weeks ago with seven reported cases, including three at Steinfort Hospital. Since then, an eighth infection has been confirmed, according to the Ministry of Health. Those affected who had been at the intercommunal hospital are currently in recovery.
While comprehensive testing of Steinfort's drinking water network and reservoirs in both Steinfort and Kleinbettingen showed no contamination, the Health Inspectorate's investigation remains active. In response to an enquiry from RTL, ministry officials stated that the origin of this outbreak has not yet been determined.
The negative water test results prompted local authorities to lift precautionary measures.
