Anthony Baird has taken up his post as the new Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the US Embassy in Luxembourg, stepping in as acting head following Michael Konstantino's departure.

The US Embassy in Luxembourg has welcomed Anthony Baird as its new Chargé d’Affaires ad interim, effective Monday, 21 July. Baird steps into the role following the departure of Michael Konstantino and will serve as the Embassy's acting head until the new US ambassador – Stacey Feinberg – is accredited.

He will then assume the position of Deputy Chief of Mission.

In a statement marking his arrival, Baird said he feels privileged to take on the role and expressed eagerness to strengthen US-Luxembourg ties.

"I look forward to deepening our economic partnerships, strengthening our shared security, and building even stronger ties between our two countries", he said in a statement published by the embassy. "I am committed to working closely with our partners here to achieve meaningful results that benefit both our nations."

Baird brings more than two decades of diplomatic experience to the post. Prior to his Luxembourg assignment, he served in Washington,DC, where he focused on US relations with Central Europe. His international postings include Switzerland, Morocco, Azerbaijan, Albania, and Georgia.

He also worked at the White House as Director for NATO and Western European Affairs on the National Security Council.

A multilingual diplomat, Baird speaks French, Russian, and Arabic, and he plans to learn Luxembourgish during his time in the country.
