MPs finalised a €10,000 increase to the "Bëllegen Akt" tax credit Wednesday, setting the relief at €40,000 per homebuyer.

The Chamber of Deputies formally established the tax credit on notarial acts, commonly referred to as "Bëllegen Akt" in Luxembourgish, at €40,000 per person Wednesday, approving Bill No. 8540 after extensive debate. The measure increases the previous €30,000 credit for primary residence purchases.

The decision means couples buying a home together may now claim up to €80,000 in combined tax relief.
