On Sunday evening, a police car was involved in a severe accident in Pétange, injuring three people who had to be admitted to hospital.
A serious accident in Pétange on Sunday evening left three people injured and caused significant material damage. Two vehicles collided at the intersection of Route de Longwy and Chemin de Brouck. Authorities have confirmed that a police car was involved in the incident.
The impact caused the other car, driven by a woman, to be thrown several metres before coming to a stop. According to the Grand Ducal police, the driver was taken to hospital for a precautionary check-up.
The two police officers were also taken to hospital. Both vehicles were seized for further investigation into the circumstances of the accident, as requested by the public prosecutor. The police technical unit was dispatched to the scene.
"The accident caused considerable material damage", among which was a lamppost that fell down and damaged two other cars, confirmed the Luxembourgish authorities on Monday.
It is noteworthy that this is not the first accident this year involving a police vehicle. Three accidents involving the police happened last month, notably when a child was struck by the police in the city centre.
The remaining two accidents took place on the day of Singapore's president's visit to Luxembourg.
