The latest figures on interest rates in Luxembourg have just been released, showing a general trend towards more affordability.

There might be a little breathing space for residents and their property projects this year. On Thursday, the Central Bank of Luxembourg published the latest interest rates negotiated in the country.

This January, it found that the variable rate for a mortgage had fallen sharply. Buyers had negotiated a rate of 3.88% with the banks. This is the lowest rate since March 2023. In December, the variable rate still exceeded 4% in Luxembourg (4.04%).

As for fixed rates, they are rising again. After falling sharply at the end of 2024, the average rate on loans of over 10 years was estimated at 3.39% in January.

Lastly, consumer loans are less expensive at the start of the year: their interest rate has fallen to 4.19%, compared with 4.82% in December.
