On Saturday, a day before the official opening of Luxembourg's new tram section, emergency services carried out a large-scale rescue exercise on the tracks between Kirchberg and Findel airport.

The Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) conducted real-time emergency operations in coordination with Luxtram, testing response procedures under live conditions. The drill aimed to assess and refine safety protocols ahead of the tram's much-anticipated first public journeys to Findel airport.

From Sunday, the extended tram line will connect the airport to the capital, passing through Kirchberg, Place de l’Étoile, the central station, and Bonnevoie.

The new stops – 'Senningerberg, Héienhaf', and 'Findel-Luxembourg Airport' – will enhance connectivity, with the former linking to the P+R facility on Route de Trèves and the latter providing direct airport access. Both stops will also be served by multiple bus routes.
