The incident occurred near the church on Rue de Gasperich at around 10.30pm on Monday. According to initial information, the man attempted to hit the woman with his car. She managed to jump aside in time and was not injured.
A police patrol soon located the reported driver, who showed clear signs of intoxication. A breath test confirmed he was over the legal limit.
On orders from the public prosecutor’s office, officers arrested the man and seized his car, which was found to be uninsured. As he had been driving under the influence of alcohol, he was banned from driving and was scheduled to appear before an investigating judge the following day.
