After lengthy and complicated negotiations, actors of the construction sector and the trade unions OGBL and LCGB came to an agreement, adding, for instance, more days off.
On Friday morning, the trade unions OGBL and LCGB shared in a press statement that they had come to a common agreement with the employers' association of contractors and the construction firms concerning the new and improved collective contract for the construction sector.
The negotiations were held within the context of the current construction crisis and a decrease in new construction endeavours. Nevertheless, the trade unions confirmed that improvements were achieved for the 20,000 employees in the field. Among those improvements, the addition of one more day of discharge is included.
The new collective labour agreement is valid from 1 January 2025, yet only for a year. The upcoming negotiations are already planned to start in October 2025.
