The tradition of Post's annual calendar delivery continues on Wednesday, with the 2025 edition celebrating the 3,300 employees and spotlighting key national traditions, school holidays, and updated postal rates.
As part of an end-of-year tradition that has lasted for 140 years, Post's annual calendar will be delivered to every household in Luxembourg on Wednesday. The 2025 edition highlights the 3,300 employees of the group, all united under the slogan 'All Dag am Asaz am Interessi vu Land a Bierger', which roughly translated to 'Every day in the best interest of country and citizens'.
In addition to name days, the calendar also features the dates for school holidays and key Luxembourgish traditions throughout the year, including Buergsonndeg, Eemaischen, Krautwëschdag, and the local Mother's and Father's Day. The calendar also includes important information on postal rates, with the new tariffs for letters and parcels, effective from 3 February 2025 clearly outlined.
The success story of Post, which has spanned 182 years, is no accident, according to Raymond Juchem, president of the Postal Workers' Union. He pointed to the company's beginnings in 1842 when postal workers delivered mail by stagecoach or telegraph cable.
The role of the institution was also particularly crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic when employees continued to provide vital services despite the challenges posed by numerous restrictions.
Today, Luxembourg's public postal service plays an essential role in the daily lives of its citizens. Juchem highlighted Post's significant investment in the country, totalling over €1 billion, along with its contributions to the economy through dividends, payrolls, taxes, and collaborations with other businesses. According to a press release, these efforts help fund social expenditures and infrastructure projects such as schools, hospitals, and roads.
