Officers in Esch-sur-Alzette arrested the driver of a suspicious vehicle on Tuesday after they tried to evade a police check.

On Tuesday night, a police patrol spotted a suspicious vehicle on Rue du Canal in Esch-sur-Alzette.

When the driver stopped the vehicle on Rue Ferdinand Nothomb, the officers decided to inspect it. When they asked the driver to turn off the engine, they suddenly accelerated. One of the officers sustained leg injuries.

The car came to a stop a few metres down the road and the occupants of the vehicle were immobilised by the police. The driver was not only carrying seven pellets of heroin but was also found to be subject to a driving ban and an arrest warrant.

The public prosecutor's office has been informed about the incident.
