Traffic was slowed down this morning on the A31 towards Luxembourg due to a burning truck on the motorway.

Considerable traffic jams formed on the A31 between Metz and Thionville on Tuesday morning. At the height of Illange, a truck had caught fire.

The vehicle, specialised in sanitation services, stopped on the hard shoulder of the motorway exit when the driver noticed smoke. Soon after at around 8.30am, the vehicle was in flames.

The motorway exit n. 37.2 (Illange), next to the Knauf factory, was closed by the authorities. Firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the flames.
