Heavy rain and strong winds on Tuesday caused multiple traffic incidents and road closures across Luxembourg, with fallen trees obstructing roads and leading to delays.

Tuesday's stormy weather caused multiple traffic incidents and road closures throughout Luxembourg, prompting warnings for motorists to exercise caution.

Major road closures and fallen trees

On the N11 near the Park Hotel in Dommeldange, a fallen tree had blocked the road, resulting in closures and causing significant traffic jams on the alternative route, the N7, between Eich and Walferdange.

Elsewhere, the road between Noertzange and Derenbach had also been closed due to adverse conditions.

Fallen trees further disrupted traffic on several roads, including:

  • The N12 between Dondelange and Bour
  • The N27 between Insenborn and Arsdorf
  • The CR186 near Kockelscheuer
  • The CR345 near Dellen
  • The CR315 between Hareler Potto and Surré

Authorities urged motorists on these roads to remain vigilant and drive with care.

Weather warnings for motorists

The Luxembourg Motoring Association (ACL) has issued a warning about potential risks caused by persistent rainfall since Tuesday morning. Drivers are advised to watch out for slippery roads and the possibility of aquaplaning. The ACL is calling on all road users to reduce their speed and adjust their driving to the challenging conditions.

The national weather agency's yellow alert has been updated to include a flood warning in southern areas of the country until Wednesday morning at 10am.
