At Place d'Armes in Luxembourg City on Saturday, 12 October, Handicap International showcased installations to highlight the toll of bombings on civilians to raise awareness.

The installations were set up by the NGO Handicap International to highlight the devastating impact of bombardments on civilian populations. The event aimed to raise awareness about the increasing number of civilian casualties caused by bombs in conflict zones which tragically doubled last year compared to 2022.

Attendees were able to witness firsthand how bomb disposal operations are conducted and view prosthetics used by victims of these attacks. The intention was not to shock but to shed light on the high human toll caused by these weapons.

Luxembourg’s authorities were called to play a key role in addressing this issue. As one speaker emphasised, "We know that Luxembourg is doing a lot and has signed all the treaties. But now we need to ensure that these treaties are also implemented, both in terms of assistance for the victims and in the removal of bombs. We need the government for that too."
