In a statement released on Friday, the National Council of Justice confirmed they have submitted John Petry's name to the justice minister as their choice for the role of Prosecutor General.
Petry has been nominated to succeed Martine Solovieff when the latter retires in February. He has previously served as deputy Prosecutor General for the State.
Solovieff, who will retire some nine months prior to the upper age limit, has been active in Luxembourg's judiciary for almost four decades. In 1999, she moved from the State Prosecutor's Office to the Prosecutor General's Office under the Supreme Court of Justice. In 2015, she was nominated to succeed Roby Biever as State Prosecutor General.
