
The Grand-Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) had a busy Sunday evening as they were dispatched across the country to respond to multiple incidents as a total of eleven people required rescuing.
At 5.10pm, a major rescue operation took place at "Am Kleegaart" in the north-west of Oberpallen near the Belgian border, following a car crash that left six people injured, including four children.
The situation called for extensive support as the Air Rescue helicopter, emergency medical services, three ambulances from Luxembourg City, Rambrouch and Redange and emergency workers at the Beckerich emergency centre were dispatched to rescue the six injured people. The CGDIS did not mention any further details regarding the incident in their Monday morning report.
Shortly before this incident, a collision between two cars occurred on the Route de Luxembourg in Dudelange, leaving three people injured. They were rescued and transported to the hospital by an ambulance dispatched from Dudelange at around 5pm.
At 6.15pm, another person was injured in an accident on the Rue des Artisans in Shifflange and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance sent from Esch-sur-Alzette.
An eleventh injured person was evacuated from the A13 shortly after 7.30pm. The person's car was involved in an accident on the motorway between Kayl and Burange, heading towards Schengen. Emergency services from the Schifflange emergency centre were on the scene.
At 8pm, a car caught on fire in the Rue Michel Welter in Luxembourg City, but no injuries were reported.
