Pope Francis is set to proceed with his planned visit to Luxembourg on Thursday, following a brief illness earlier this week, with the Vatican assuring that there are no concerns preventing the pope from carrying out his duties

The Vatican is confident that there will be no issues preventing the pope from making his journey to Luxembourg on Thursday. After experiencing flu-like symptoms earlier this week, Pope Francis was forced to cancel his scheduled audiences on Monday, leading to concerns here in the Grand Duchy regarding his scheduled visit to Luxembourg on Thursday. However, the Vatican has stressed that this measure was taken as a precaution and not a cause for serious concern.

The pope resumed his duties on Tuesday and attended a reception in honour of bishops from Mozambique. He is expected to hold his traditional general audience at 9am on Wednesday morning at the St Peter's Square.

As of now, nothing stands is in the way of the pope's visit to Luxembourg, followed by his trip to Belgium. He is scheduled to land in Luxembourg in the middle of the morning and will meet Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa at the Grand Ducal Palace. The pope will then lead a parade through the streets of Luxembourg City aboard the iconic Popemobile, followed by a visit to Luxembourg's cathedral, where a gathering with the local Catholic community will take place.
