Luxembourg police responded to a series of incidents on Tuesday, including a mugging, drink-driving, and burglaries in multiple locations.
On Tuesday evening, an individual was mugged while withdrawing cash from an ATM on Rue Charles Darwin in Gasperich. The victim was pushed aside by an unknown assailant who stole the money and fled the scene. Despite a search operation, police were unable to locate the suspect. An investigation is ongoing.
Drink-driving incidents
In Capellen, police responded to reports of a car swerving on the road towards Olm/Kehlen. The driver eventually collided with a post. Officers stopped the vehicle shortly after and conducted a breathalyser test, which confirmed the driver was over the legal limit. A temporary driving ban was issued.
Later that night, at around 1am, a second driver was stopped in Tétange after their vehicle was seen swerving. A breathalyser test again revealed the driver was intoxicated, and their licence was revoked on the spot.
Burglaries in Assel and Esch-sur-Alzette
Authorities are also investigating two separate burglaries. The first took place on Tuesday afternoon in a single-family home in Assel, where intruders searched several rooms and made off with jewellery.
The second burglary occurred at a residence on Rue Dominique-Joseph Hoferlin in Esch-sur-Alzette, where culprits similarly searched several rooms before fleeing.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
