The ‘RéGLiCE’ shuttle buses will start operating on Monday, 2 September. Cross-border commuters residing in six neighboring municipalities will have the opportunity to travel to Luxembourg free of charge in the morning, and return in the evening from Mondorf.

Initiatives have been launched along the Franco-Luxembourg border to ease the commute for cross-border workers who have faced significant disruptions due to ongoing A3 expansion works and the suspension of train services between Bettembourg and Luxembourg.

Starting Monday, 2 September, new measures will come into effect to improve the daily commute for those travelling from the north of Meurthe-et-Moselle and the Cattenom area in Moselle. A new Park-and-Ride (P+R) facility will also open near Longwy station, offering 640 parking spaces.

Additionally, a new free shuttle service, RéGLiCE ("Réseau Gratuit de Liaison de Cattenom et Environs"), will start operating from Monday. This service will be available to residents of six municipalities around Cattenom: Berg-sur-Moselle, Beyren-lès-Sierck, Contz-les-Bains, Fixem, Gavisse, and Haute-Kontz.

The morning shuttle service will run from 6am to 9am, transporting commuters to Mondorf in France, where they can then transfer to an RGTR bus at Mondorf-les-Bains. In the evening, shuttles will operate from 4 pm to 7 pm, running every 30 minutes in both directions.

This new experimental service will operate on two distinct routes. The first will run from Contz-les-Bains to Mondorff (timetable here), passing through Haute-Kontz and Beyren-lès-Sierck. The second route will operate from Berg-sur-Moselle to Mondorff (timetable here), including stops at Gavisse, Fixem, and Beyren-lès-Sierck.

To use this free service, commuters need to register with the new service to receive their pass. Interested individuals should email their personal details, such as surname, first name, address, and proof of address, to c.andre@cc-ce.com or r.jager@cc-ce.com. According to the "Communauté de communes" communications manager, approximately sixty people have already registered.

To promote this new mobility option, aimed at easing travel to Luxembourg, an official launch event will take place on Tuesday morning in Contz-lès-Bains. The event will feature Michel Paquet, Chairman of the "Communauté de communes de Cattenom et environs".

In addition to these new shuttle services, the project to establish a dedicated bus lane on the RD653 between Hettange-Grande and Frisange continues to progress. Following an agreement signed in April between the "Communauté de communes de Cattenom et environs" and the Moselle department, preparations are underway, and negotiations ongoing for necessary land acquisition. This future two-way bus lane will facilitate buses travelling towards Luxembourg in the morning and back in the evening.
