Starting Monday, 2 September, cross-border commuters in the northern region of Meurthe-et-Moselle will have access to a newly inaugurated Park and Ride (P+R) facility in Longwy.
The new Longwy P+R, located conveniently near the station, will open just in time for the start of the new school year in France.
The project, jointly financed by France and Luxembourg – similar to the P+R in Metzange – will offer 640 parking spaces free of charge for cross-border workers. From there, commuters can take trains on line 70 for a 37-minute journey to Luxembourg City.
Throughout September, the car park will be open to all, but it will become "exclusively reserved for cross-border workers" afterward, according to the township committee. Access will be managed via magnetic cards.
To obtain a card, commuters can pick up a registration form on-site on Monday, 2 September (between 6am and 9am) or Thursday, 5 September (between 5pm and 8pm). Alternatively, forms are available at the Grand Longwy reception desk or via email to the township committee at accueil@grandlongwy.fr.
Magnetic cards will be distributed to registered users at service points in Longwy station starting in October, the township committee stated.
