The 95th Grande Braderie is set to take place this Monday, 2 September, in Luxembourg City. Here's everything you need to know to make the most of this annual event and snag some great deals.
It's September, and that means one thing: the return of the "Stater Braderie," a beloved tradition in Luxembourg City. This Monday, the streets of the city centre and Gare district will welcome more than 200 retailers who will set up shop for the annual street market, from 9am to 7pm. Here's what you need to know.
Weather: warm, but watch out for potential storms
Meteolux is forecasting another pleasant day with mild temperatures. The morning will start with a comfortable 17°C, rising to a warm 25°C by the afternoon. Skies will remain mostly clear, with a few clouds drifting by.
Meteolux warns of a potential shift in the weather later in the day, with thunderstorms and rain showers expected in the late afternoon.
Mobility: less traffic, and more space for pedestrians
In addition to the already pedestrianised city centre plateau, parts of the Gare district will also be transformed into a pedestrian-only zone. The City Council has announced that several streets will be "cleared of traffic as far as possible" to create a large, walkable area for visitors.
Specifically, Avenue de la Liberté will be closed off from Place de Paris, and in the city centre, Rue Notre-Dame will be blocked in front of the cathedral. Motorists are advised to use a Park and Ride (P+R) facility and complete their journey by bus, with a note that bus stops near the main station have been temporarily relocated to the Rocade for several lines.
The ‘Place de l'Europe’ car park in Kirchberg and the ‘Fort Wedell’ car park in the Gare district will be exceptionally free for the day. Additionally, the Fort Neipperg car park will offer two hours of free parking.
