A collision between a car and a motorbike occurred on Wednesday afternoon on the A31 motorway heading towards Thionville, between the Luxembourg border and the French town of Kanfen.
According to the Motorway Traffic Control and Information Centre (CITA), the accident happened shortly after 3.15pm on Wednesday. The incident resulted in the closure of the right-hand lane and the hard shoulder.
By approximately 3.35pm, a 6-kilometre traffic jam had already formed on the motorway, just before the start of the evening rush hour.
CITA is urging motorists to make way for emergency vehicles.
This accident follows a similar incident on Tuesday afternoon on the A3 in Luxembourg, where six people were injured, causing an 8-kilometre traffic jam.
