In his remaining time as president, Hammelmann intends to focus on advancing the “Vision Zero” initiative, which aims to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on Luxembourg’s roads. A key aspect of this initiative is the widespread implementation of 30 km/h zones in built-up areas. “A speed of 50 km/h should be the exception within towns and villages,” Hammelmann stressed.

Additionally, Hammelmann highlighted the need for improved infrastructure for cyclists. He stressed the importance of creating coherent and continuous cycle paths to prevent cyclists from being forced into unsafe situations when paths suddenly end.
