Luxembourg successfully extradited two individuals from abroad who are suspected of involvement in organised crime.
The Luxembourg police announced their role in transferring the suspects back to Luxembourg. Identified by investigators from the "Suppression of Organised Crime" section of the judicial police, these individuals are believed to have participated in violent and aggravated robberies.
The suspects were apprehended in Germany, following the issuance of European arrest warrants by Luxembourg authorities, which triggered international searches.
Attempted homicide and fraud
According to the Luxembourg prosecutor's office, the first suspect is a 43-year-old Luxembourg national.
He was sentenced on 28 September 2022 by a correctional chamber of the Court of Appeal to four years in prison and a €3,000 fine for fraud, forgery, and the use of forged documents.
Among his deceptions, he falsely claimed to be a "qualified psychologist" and a "lawyer." He was eventually arrested near Luxembourg in Trier.
The second suspect, a 40-year-old Serbian national, had been wanted since 2015 for attempted homicide in Esch-sur-Alzette.
On 18 October, 2015, he seriously injured his victim with a baseball bat before fleeing the scene. If convicted, he faces a prison sentence of 20 to 30 years.
Both individuals were extradited to Luxembourg by plane "a few days ago," according to the police.
