In a sweeping overhaul within her first year as Mobility Minister, Backes has initiated a significant reshuffle, replacing top coordinators and establishing new leadership positions across four key directorates to streamline operations and enhance strategic direction.
In less than a year since taking on her new role as Minister for Mobility and Public Works, Yuriko Backes of the Democratic Party (DP) has undertaken major household restructuring. Of significance is that two of the most senior coordinators are being replaced or given new roles, with Tom Weisgerber retiring this autumn and Félicie Weycker leading the new Directorate General for Legal Affairs and Public Markets.
Weycker is also president of LuxAirport, president of the Belval and Kirchberg Funds, and sits on the Luxtram and CFL directors' boards. Weisgerber is president of Cargolux and sits on the directors' boards of LuxAirport and SEO.
Following the reshuffle, the Ministry is thus set to consist of four directorates. Jean-Paul Lickes takes over the Directorate General of Public Transport, Sylvie Siebenborn the Directorate General of Public Works, and Gilio Fonck, who is switching over from the Maison du Grand-Duc, will coordinate the Directorate General of Aviation and Strategy.
The four directorates will be coordinated by Max Dörner, who is the general coordinator to the minister. The final addition to the new team will be Loris Meyer, secretary of the DP parliamentary group, who is set to take the lead on the communication front.
