Arnold Kontz sells car dealerships to Belgian Louyet Group

In a statement released on Tuesday, Luxembourg automobile group Arnold Kontz explained that "concentration in car distribution has reached its peak, and following recent successes, the time is right to withdraw from car distribution and sell these activities to the Louyet Group". The transfer is set for 30 September, with the dealerships continuing to operate from their current locations. The Arnold Kontz Group assured that all employees working for the respective dealerships will be retained and that no restructuring is planned.

The Louyet Group is an official dealer for BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad and also the exclusive representative of luxury brands such as Rolls-Royce, McLaren, and Automobili Pininfarina in Belgium. It operates 26 sales outlets across central and southern Belgium.

Following the announcement, Benji Kontz, Managing Director of the Arnold Kontz Group, stated: "As our aim has never been to generate growth through company acquisitions, I feel that the time is right for us to withdraw from car distribution and concentrate once again, as my great-grandfather did in 1917, on the bicycle trade and soft mobility."

Laurent Louyet, CEO of the Louyet Group, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition: "I would like to thank Benji Kontz warmly for his welcome, and I am delighted to continue the activities of this fine family business." Louyet noted that extending the group's activities beyond the Belgian borders is "an important step in our development" and that the integration of "prestigious British brands Jaguar, Land Rover, Aston Martin, and Lotus" aligns perfectly with the group's current operations. "I look forward to meeting the teams and working together to create a new chapter in the great Louyet family's history," Laurent Louyet concluded.
