Authorities in Esch-sur-Alzette were left bewildered on Monday evening after a drink driver managed to drive their car into the local cemetery, damaging several graves.

The incident occurred shortly after 6pm when police were called to the cemetery on Rue de Mondercange. Upon arrival, officers discovered that someone had literally driven their car into the cemetery, causing damage to multiple graves.

The driver, found at the scene, was uncooperative and exhibited a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. Further investigation revealed that the individual did not possess a valid driving licence.

The driver was fined, banned from driving, and taken into custody overnight.

Later that evening, police apprehended another drink driver in Luxembourg City. The individual was struggling to manoeuvre their vehicle at the junction of Rue du Commerce and Fort Wedell. Due to their intoxication, their driving licence was revoked on the spot.
