Delhaize issued a recall on Wednesday for organic red onions sold under its brand due to high pesticide concentrations.
The company has removed all affected products from its shelves and increased controls on both the product and the supplier.
Customers who purchased the recalled onions are advised not to consume them. They can return the product to the store where it was bought for a full refund.
Delhaize has confirmed that other products in the same range are not affected and can be safely consumed.
