Following abuse allegations against its former director, the Luxembourg Children’s Village Foundation has launched an appeal for witnesses.

On Wednesday, the independent expert commission tasked with investigating the matter addressed the public through a press release.

The commission’s mission is to document potential abuse cases and organisational dysfunctionalities within the foundation over the next 12 months. The appeal for witnesses was launched on Wednesday, one day before the parliamentary education committee is set to discuss the case on Thursday morning at the request of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP).

Anyone who has witnessed anything suspicious in the past is asked to come forward, according to the press release. This includes former and current beneficiaries, individuals in their social circles, witnesses, and former or current staff. The release explicitly states that even partial information is welcomed. The witness appeal comes in the context of abuse allegations against a former director, who led the foundation for 30 years. The case was first brought to public attention by the online platform Reporter in October 2025.

The expert commission promises a safe framework and has set up a dedicated website (www.comind.lu), an email address (contact@comind.lu), and a telephone hotline.

The press release also identifies the members of the independent expert commission, four individuals with no connection to the Luxembourg Children’s Village Foundation. They are former Prosecutor General Robert Biever, who retired 11 years ago; lawyer Claudine Erpelding; psychotherapist Alain Massen, until recently also president of the National Parents’ Representation; and paediatrician Roland Seligmann.

At the conclusion of their mission, the four members are to present a report to the foundation’s administrative board and issue recommendations on how to prevent similar situations in the future.

One month ago, the Luxembourg Children’s Village Foundation announced that it would task an external commission with reviewing the matter.
