Grand Duke Guillaume held his first meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels on Wednesday, with talks focusing on security in the transatlantic region and the situation in Ukraine.

The transatlantic region was at the centre of the first meeting between Grand Duke Guillaume and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

After the first day of the Grand Duke’s visit to Brussels on Tuesday focused on European political affairs, international security was on the agenda on Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning at 9.15am, the Grand Duke and Foreign Affairs Minister Xavier Bettel, who is accompanying the Head of State on the visit, held talks with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. The discussion primarily centred on security in the transatlantic region, with a particular emphasis on Ukraine.

NATO as an institution was also discussed, notably ahead of the upcoming summit in Ankara in early July.
