Near Ermsinde High School in Mersch, the decapitated head and remains of a goat were found in a barn. Police have requested that anyone with information related to the incident contact or visit the Mersch Police.

The disturbing image of the goat's remains has been circulating on social media through various accounts. Initially shared on Facebook, the photo depicts the severed head and one leg of the unfortunate animal.

In her caption, she described the grisly discovery, stating that only the upper portion of the goat was found on Thursday morning. Adding to the distressing situation, two other goats in the barn have been exhibiting unusual behaviour since the incident.

In an effort to gather more information, we reached out to the husband of the woman who posted the photo. Jeannot Schmitz revealed that the goats in question are Valais Blacknecks, a breed commonly used for educational purposes at the Ermsinde High School in Mersch.

These animals play a vital role in the school's curriculum, where students learn practical skills such as stable maintenance and honey production through beekeeping.

The goat was not only decapitated, but its legs were cut off, its innards were taken out and was also completely skinned. Afterwards, the animal was hung up with ropes in the stable and was left to bleed out, according to Schmitz. For him, it is evident that it was brutally slaughtered.

"Those people knew what they were doing."

Given that the stable is not easily accessible by car, the owner suspects that multiple individuals may have been involved in this gruesome act. Transporting the goat's body alone would have been challenging for a single person. The owner is at a loss as to who the perpetrators could be.

Promptly after the discovery, the police were notified, and officers arrived at the scene on Thursday morning. Forensic investigations are currently underway to piece together what happened. In response to this appalling incident, the police have issued a public appeal for anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity to come forward and report it to the Mersch police station.
