The Independent Luxembourg Trade Union Confederation (OGBL) and the Luxembourg Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (LCGB) recently reached an agreement with Tarkett management, resulting in a reduction of job losses at the company.

Initially, Tarkett management announced plans to lay off 126 out of 562 employees at its Clervaux site. However, following negotiations with the OGBL and LCGB unions, this number was reduced to 91, saving 35 jobs. This number could go down even further in the coming weeks as some employees are expected to opt for early retirement or voluntary departure.

In a press release, the trade unions outlined the terms of the agreement, which include

  • A job guarantee for all remaining employees until 31 December 2026
  • Financial incentives for employees opting for voluntary departure
  • Adjustments for early retirement, pending approval from the Ministry of Labour
  • Extra-legal compensation based on various factors such as seniority, age, performance, and presence
  • Provisions for professional reclassification, as well as training and retraining opportunities, supported by a dedicated budget.
