On Tuesday evening, Luxembourg police conducted a significant number of alcohol checks across the country's roads.

Within just a few hours, authorities administered several hundred breathalyser tests primarily in the northern region.

From 8.30pm to 1.30am, a total of 708 motorists underwent testing in areas including Diekirch, Ettelbruck, and Ingeldorf. These checks were precautionary in nature, conducted proactively without specific suspicion of alcohol consumption.

Of those tested, 26 individuals were found to have consumed alcohol prior to driving. Police officers issued 18 penalty notices and eight fines in response. Additionally, three driving licences were revoked as a result of the checks.
