A person has died following a suspected gas explosion in Wormeldange on Thursday, say police.
The explosion occurred at around 1pm on Thursday afternoon, setting fire to a residential property in Wormeldange.
Emergency services rescued one person from the blaze, who was confirmed to have succumbed to their injuries on Friday.
The cause of the explosion, which occurred on the upper floor of a home on rue Bourgaass and resulted in shattered windows, has yet to be determined. The fire was quickly contained by fire fighters and was limited to one room at the property.
The incident was attended by emergency teams from Wormeldange, Canach, Flaxweiler, Mertert and Remich, as well as the SAMU helicopter. An investigation has been launched into the accident.
The public prosecutor's office has requested an autopsy for the deceased.
