The 2023 figures are pretty clear: Luxembourg City remains a beloved tourist destination!

The Luxembourg City Tourist Office reported over one million stays in the capital in 2023, a 5% increase compared to 2022. The Kockelscheuer campsite recorded an increase of a third compared to five years ago.

While visitor numbers fell at the Casino Forum museum and Mudam, they increased by two-thirds at Villa Vauban, by a third at Musée Dräi Eechelen and by a quarter at the Natural History Museum. Overall, the City museums welcomed 477,000 visitors last year, 112,000 alone at Mudam.

One of the absolute highlights remains the Casemates with 119,171 visitors - a real tourist magnet. 6,400 people visited the Grand Ducal Palace, and nearly 4,000 guided tours were booked - nearly 11 tours per day on average. Most tours were in German, followed closely by English.

33% of all visitors came from Germany, 19% from France and 16% from the Netherlands. Compared to 2022, 34% more tourists from the Netherlands visited Luxembourg, while 32% fewer 'home tourists' from Luxembourg visited the City, according to the Tourist Office.

Over 3.5 million website visits were recorded, a 87% increase compared to the year before.
