The Government Council on Wednesday nominated Marc Thewes as their new president, proposed expansions to housing development initiatives, and introduced new educational sections in classical secondary education.
The Government Council has decided to propose Marc Thewes as thei new president, with his name to be forwarded to Grand Duke Henri for approval.
In line with this potential change, Alain Kinsch and Cristophe Schiltz would become vice presidents. The vacant position on the State Council is set to be filled by Alex Penning, the former secretary general of the Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR).
During the council meeting on Wednesday, the government paved the way for previously announced measures aimed at boosting housing development. The main measure is extending the validity period of building permits from one year to two years, with the option for a further one-year extension.
New sections in classical secondary education have also been approved and include, 'Entrepreneurship', 'Cognitive Sciences', and 'Politics and Sustainability'.
